Transfer Chances... I feel like a Senior again...

Predicted College GPA : 3.875, 4.0.
(depends on what I get in Arabic 101)
ECs: Delegate for Model UN, hoping to get on Eboard next semester, RA for Fall 2007 assuming I stay at my current school.

High School Stats
GPA: 3.8
SATS:

ECs: Class President, Student Council, Captain of Mock Trial Team, JSA with awards from conference.

Where I'm thinking of applying:

Georgetown SFS
Dartmouth
Brown (rejected last year)
Harvard

Thanks all for your input.

we need to know the competitiveness of your current school. if you don't want to give the actual name, you should give the range that it falls in as far as ranking.

Based on numbers alone, I don't think you'll get into Dartmouth, Brown or Harvard. Your math score is in the low 600s, (no SAT IIs?) and no outstanding ECs. Not trying to be overly critical, but based on the previous years' admissions and current rates (Dartmouth is under 15% and Harvard is around 5%) it looks doubtful. You'd have to ask nspeds about Georgetown SFS.

Why not some more match type schools? Unless, of course, you're totally satisfied with BC. Possibly Vandy, Emory?

Edit: Even with those SATs, I don't think you'd be competitive at those schools. Look into some more matchy schools?

Northeastern University, 98th in USNWR

oh, yeah. good call, wow, shows how long I've been out of the game.

Here's what I think: You've done well so far at Northeastern. Your test scores are quite good, but won't necessarily help you in the process - just not hurt you.
You are already at a decent 4 year university, so providing us with your stats is pertinent, but even more important are your reasons for transferring to any of those schools. Those will be the deciding factor.

Brown has an abysmal transfer rate these days. It's definitely worth a shot, but realize it's a reach. The same can be said for Harvard. Dartmouth takes considerably few transfers per year, though it has a slightly higher acceptance rate (12%?). Georgetown is your best bet, but you are applying to the SFS, which is the most competitive college at Georgetown. It too is a a bit of a reach. If you applied to the College, you'd have a better shot at G-town, but don't let that hold you back if SFS is what you really want. Just realize the odds would be better if you applied to the College instead.

I don't know if you're interested, but you have some good stats, so why not look at some other top 30 schools with better transfer rates (i.e. Northwestern, Chicago, Georgetown COLLEGE, Washington University in St. Louis). You are a pretty strong applicant, but you may want to expand your options some as you have picked some of the hardest ones to transfer into.

I think the most plausible choice on your list is Georgetown SFS, where it is probably a high match / low reach.

Good luck!
