first, does anyone know if BU a difficult school to transfer to? any exact stats?

personal: college freshman from california
stats:
3.6 gpa (will have completed 40 units by the end of the year)
3.4 HS gpa (majority of courses were AP/IB, honors)
SAT: 1940 (i don’t test well…)
ECs: a few…
Work experience: have been working two part time jobs since beginning college, a combined 20-30 hours per week.

as far as teacher recs are concerned, i have two excellent ones

BU is not a difficult school to transfer to comparing to other schools with same ranking/level. The transfer rate is around 30% (600/2000).

3.6 college gpa is great, but depends on what college you attend you'd receive different evaluations. 1940 is not a bad SAT score either although your high school gpa doesn't really stand out.

I was talking to a friend who works for admissions, she told me that they look at gpa a lot b/c BU is such a big school. So, i guess you EC weakness can be overlooked as long as you have a solid college gpa.

It also depends on what college you are transferring to. ENG and Sargent are particularly harder to transfer comparing to CAS or SMG.

Also try to write a great essay, a good essay can really make you stand out.

I am applying as a transfer to SHA. How hard is SHA to get into as opposed to some other colleges in BU? I know they have only 360 students or so and 64 freshman this year. Either they are very very selective or they are just small and will be looking for as many new applicants as possible. I'm hoping thats the case. Heres some of my HS and college stats

My situation is kind of odd in that I went to BU during freshman year and didn't do too well. I had many financial issues that made it so I had to work every day after class. This, combined with a few depression issues made my performance below the high standards I expect of myself. I got some B's and a few C's. I transferred to JWU to study hospitality but luckily, my financial situation changed enough to make a return to BU possible. I am applying armed with Dean Stamas' high recommendation, a firm direction and passion for the field I study, and much more maturity and experience. I never wanted to leave BU and it is the school where my heart is. I made this clear in my essays. I'm hoping that the fact that I am a hispanic applying to BU's smallest school, which is hopefullly searching for new students, plus the fact that BU is the school I identify myself with, will help me get back in. Anyone have any advice, comments, feedback on anything I posted?

By the way, I also have expereince workign in the field of hotel management as a front desk agent. Just one small detail I figured I'd add just in case. Hope BU kicks BC's ass this weekend in the tournament!

Yeah, I heard its about a 31% acceptance rate. But i was just kind of wondering of anyone had any advice a little more specific to SHA or my situation in general.

I think with the stats for admissions, BU usually lumps all of the four year colleges together and has CGS separate or has all of them together. I don't think you'll find those stats but I could be wrong. The admissions link on the SHA site just links you to the regular undergrad admissions page.

andre2368....your stats are similar to my brother's and he got in last year as a transfer student....although he took the old SAT and got like a 1350 so I don't know how that compares to yours...
