I know deadlines are coming up and I'm a bit unsure of whether or not to stick to my CC for another semester (possibly 2) after this current one to mostly finish my gen ed requirements. Just thought I'd get some opinions as to whether or not I'd have much of a chance at any of these schools.

23 credits (37 after this semester). 3.52 GPA at one of the most well-regarded CCs in the country. ~3.83 weighted GPA in HS. 1860/2400 SAT (could've gotten a better score if I had taken it again. Some of the schools I listed don't require the SAT anyway). I can probably get very good recommendations and I am a pretty good writer so essays aren't TOO much of a concern.

Vanderbilt

Northwestern

Cornell

Rice

UNC-CH

NC State/GaTech (these two I should probably be able to get into without much difficulty)

I know these are mostly very tough schools to get into, but I just thought I'd test my chances (I do have a top 50 fall back school that I withdrew from in the middle of my first semester because I didn't really like it, so I can always go back there though I don't prefer it).

As far as my major goes, believe it or not, I’m still not 100% sure. I’ll probably do the cheeky thing and look up the transfer rates for each individual program at each school and apply to them accordingly. I’ll then switch majors if necessary. I’m just trying to give myself the best possible shot at getting into one of those top tier schools, no matter what it takes.

for cornell, i would stick it out another year to raise your gpa and also use that time to figure out what you want to do, because the essays need to show how passionate you are about what you want to study. i also think this would benefit you when you apply to other schools as well, so maybe you should do that.
