I'm trying to transfer to Brown to take advantage of their Classics Dept, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on what you think my chances might be. I am currently a freshman at Arizona State (took a scholarship to go here, which was a mistake):

SAT 1: 1460 (730/730)
SAT 2: Writing 740, Math 740, US History 660
Cum. GPA: 3.9
High School: Captain of 2 Varsity Sports, National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar w/ Distinction, 2 time National Latin Exam gold medalist, 1 time National Latin Exam silver medalist, founder and editor of school publication.
College: Amnesty International, ASU Young Democrats, Students for Informed Democracy, Bioethics Club, Barrett Honors College Council.

great chances, but 75 percent is ridiculous, u might hate what i am going to say, but it is the truth

a 3.9 is extremely commendable, but in my opinion, a 3.9 at Arizona State says very little about your capabilities

it is not even ranked in the top 100 US News, it is ranked below Univ of Arizona which is quite honestly a "joke" school, i know for a fact that as long as you have above a 900 on ur sats, u can get into arizona, so arizona state i am sure is no better, and is actually worse

when ur competing against a caliber of students that is as low as it is at arizona state, a 3.9 for one semester says little about your ability to survive in a rigorous school like an ivy league

when ur in a classroom (calc for example), and ur the only one in that classroom that is motivated and has a composite sat above a 1000, its not that tough to get a 3.9

wow you have a great record. SAT score is decent for Brown admissions and grades are certainly good. ECs are also good. I agree wit the 75% poster.

my friend at my highschool was a National latin exam gold medalist, got a perfect score. he said he guessed on like 10% of the questions too lol.

yeah to be brutally honest, i really agree with bball87. Getting a 3.9 there is not the same as getting a 3.9 at a top public university... like UMICH.

it's easier to get into brown as a transfer?? is this true?

i'm currently applying as a transfer, though I did get in when I applied in high school (i also took a merit scholarship somewhere else... to a good school, granted, but it was also a big mistake).
