Transfer chances to George Washington?

Hey all! Im interested in transferring to GW for Junior year from another 2nd tier private school. My GPA is a 3.45 (due to ****ed up circumstances freshman year), and i'm an econ major. my ECs are okay : they include tutoring ghetto elem. kids for 2 years, econ research for a top economist this summer, and an internship this fall. Also, my SAT is below 1300 so it's not that great. Should I retake it? What are my chances at GW? Please be honest. Thanks!

I feel like you would be a competitive applicant at GW; your grades are probably just about average, but you seem to have some very interesting and unique ECs. Of course, you'll have a great chance to really strengthen your application with good letters of recommendation and essays.
Is your SAT just below 1300 or way below 1300; because if it is significantly low then you may want to retake it - otherwise I don't see a point. But I'm fairly new and you should definitely hold out for other input.
Out of curiosity, why GW?

On second thought, you may have to give a little more information here: breakdown of grades Freshman and Soph years.

So, did you ever tell the kids you tutored how ghetto they were?

I think your chances are good, however the econ program isn't excellent here. i just finished my first year and my friend is an econ major and is transferring to UNC cause he wasn't satisfied w/ the econ program. business is good though...

Yeah my SAT was terrible, like way below 1300. My grades have only improved, not gone down. During my freshman year, I got like a C in Calc and like a D in Physics, because i was in a severely abusive relationship (that affected me in so many ways) that I had a hard time getting out of. By the way, I know the econ department might be crappy there but anything is better than here. Why GW? because I applied out of high school ED, got in, but later rejected me because I didn't send in my housing deposit on time. So I settled for a different school and now I want to reapply because I originally wanted to go there for international relations.

I think you can definitely get in, given average/solid recommendations and essays.

Can anybody else give me advice about this? Should I retake my SATs? And how heavily does GW give weight to the SATs? I also want to apply to Fordham, UMD.
