Hi, I'm a freshman at the University of Rochester and I'm thinking of transferring to NYU, JHU, UPenn, and Columbia. During my first semester, I was expecting better grades but ended up with a 3.42 (B- in Intermediate Microeconomics killed me). However, my grades for my major(Nueroscience) are (A,A-, and B+) which is about a 3.65. When applying for fall transfers, do our second semester grades get factored in? Also, what do my prospects look for transferring into these schools..I know JHU and UPenn are high reaches, and Columbia (Fu) is basically impossible, but URochester is ranked about the same as NYU. How much does the ranking/competitiveness play into the application?

bump.......

bump..........

I'd like to know too as I'm also a Neurobio major at University of Maryland.. How are your highschool grades / AP's / and EC?

I went to Stuyvesant HS in NYC and I had a 91 average (we dont have a 4.0 scale and we dont rank). My EC include, Indian Culture Club for 4 years (Vice President as an upperclassmen), Gymnastics Team Freshman year, Summer Internship at a small company(decent rec letter), Tutor at SCORE!, Research at NYU Medical Center.

After speaking to admissions officers at these schools I found out that JHU, NYU, and Penn factor in your second semester grades, so thats good news.

Still, does anyone have any input on chances?
