i'm going to try to make this as simple and straight forward as possible.
I appreciate all help and input.

this coming fall 09, i will be going back to University "X" as a Junior.
at this current University X, my GPA is at a 2.3 I messed up at this University because of some personal issues and depression.

my goal is to transfer into NYU, I realize that to achieve this goal, I won't be able to graduate on time and I've accepted this fact.

Should I transfer to community college for 1-2 semesters and reach for that 4.0 and then re-apply to NYU ? do i even have a chance because of my current transcript at University X ?

Thanks in Advance.

if you are already a rising junior there would be no point to go to a 2 year college. even with a 4.0 at cc for 2 semesters, your gpa would still probably not be very competitive. going to cc would be dumb because you would be repeating classes.nyu does not accept senior transfers. i think you are out of luck.try to 4.0 the next 2 years at your universit then maybe you can get in for grad school…

i will not be applying as a senior transfer. I will be applying as a junior transfer.
I’m planning to only transfer a maximum of 60 credits (if i can even get that).

but my main question is… will colleges look down upon me transferring out of my current University into a CC because I had bad grades there ?

Not really. I went from a university to CC because of $$ issues. They will look down upon your poor GPA. I had a 3.6 gpa at university and 2.9 at CC so the trend is basically the same.if you went from a 2.3 gpa at Uni to a 4.0 CC then they might question.Who knows. It’s all in the explanation.
