Transfer chances?

Info:

High School GPA: 3.0
ACT: 26
Freshman at Saint Mary's College
First Semester College GPA: 3.75

Schools that i might apply to transfer to:

Villanova
University of San Diego
Santa Clara University
Boston College
New York University
American University
Boston University

What schools are safeties matches or reaches?

Help please!

I feel that most of the schools on this list may be reaches at this point. If you were to maintain your GPA for one more year and applied for the Fall 2012 semester, then you would be quite competitive.

However, if you want to apply now, I would suggest you retake the ACT or SAT, work on excellent essays, and get excellent recs.

I’m sure there are more qualified people here that can give you a better breakdown of safeties/reaches.

Could i please have some more input?

You mean, do you want me to explain my reasoning a bit more?

Oh na i totally understand your reasoning, they probably won’t be able to get a good sense of me in one semester. I actually have knocked off NYU, BC and BU from my list. Im just hopeful that i can get into one of these schools, could you possibly order the schools in most likely to least likely?

I took the Collegeboard/ENotes transfer rates and compiled them here:

University of San Diego - 68% (according to Collegeboard)
American University - 66% (according to Collegeboard)
Santa Clara University - 62% (according to ENotes.com)
Villanova - 41% (according to Collegeboard)

Get some greats recs and write awesome essays — University of Sandiego and Santa Clara may be in your reach. Good luck!

I agree with griffindor. Spend at least 1 more semester and keep up your high GPA.

I just finished my 3rd semester and have been getting offers from many colleges!
(cornell, tulane, etc).

Congrats, bottlecap1990! Did you apply for Spring semester?

No. I wanna spend 2 more semesters at this community college and get my associate.

I have 50 credits so far (2 or 3 classes might not transfer) so technically 40+ credits with 4.0  Will look forward to transfer to rutgers for spring 2012 as a biology or chemistry or something in that area LOL

wish me luck.

Good luck to you! I am a community college alumnus. Phi theta kappa?

Yes. I am in PTK. This honor society is awesome. I have been getting so many offers from colleges all over the US!

Are you in a 4 year university right now? Where did you transfer from? I was wondering if I can ask a few questions maybe by PMing your or chat?

I haven’t yet transferred from my 4-year university. I am applying for school for Fall of 2011. I joined PTK while enrolled in high school —its a bit complicated.
