Transfer Chances

I just completed my freshman year at the University of Delaware and realized it isn't the place for me. I was a good HS student with potential to be better but never really thought I wanted to go to an upper-tier school (ivies or a bit below) and slacked off a bit. Now I wish I would've tried a little harder in HS but hopefully I can still get somewhere better fitting for me. Looking to transfer as a Junior. I am a business major.

Chances for schools like Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, UVa, UChicago, and I'm up for ideas of better fits.

STATS:
HS gpa (unw.): 3.8 (w.): 4.0
SAT: 2170 (740 CR, 660 M, 770 W)
ACT: 33
Took both tests only once, was lazy to try for better scores & regret that.
APs: AP Microecon-4, Macroecon-4, English Lit-5, English Lang.-5, Spanish-4, Calc AB-3, EnviSci-4, USHist.-5

College
GPA: 3.99/4.00 -- through 31 credits (Almost perfect but a stupid 1 credit lab class gave me an A-)

ECs: I think these hurt me the most, pretty weak I do club track which takes up a lot of my time, have had an internship and a few jobs, joined some clubs but no leadership roles, done volunteer work, but nothing too special. Will work on this as I am looking to transfer as a Junior.

Thank you!

what is it you didnt like about UD?

i just applied transfer this past semester because I didnt like UMiami and I got into UVa, Vassar, and Boston College (Rejected at Penn, Harvard, Williams, Haverford). Going to vassar.

I can better relate to you and give you some suggestions if you tell me why you didnt like UD

Well basically I’ve gotten a lot more focused since hs and UD is overall not a great fit. The social scene for one is really centered around Greek life and I’m not interested in that, and the kids are more looking to party every night and forget gpas, I am definitely feeling like I’d fit in better with more focused peers. I also think I am up for much more of a challenge academically just based on the amount of work I’ve had to put into school so far. Whereas the ivies seemed like places I didn’t want to try to reach before, they now almost seem somewhere I should be.

I would look into some liberal arts colleges in addition to the ivies. Vassar seems like a great fit for me, and I had a similar problem as you at University of Miami.

If those aren’t for you, maybe consider schools like Emory, GTown, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, and good luck at Vassar.

Wondering about my chances for these schools.
