Hey guys,

I recently had a chance to meet a fairly prominent investment banker who transferred from a mediocre state college to Wharton. I'm in the same situation and he encouraged me to look further into Wharton opposed to other top schools for transferring.

I made a thread in the transfer section with some of my credentials: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1191534-canadian-transferring-ivy.html

Recommendations:

This will probably vary on school I apply to but for Harvard it'll be the following.

Harvard alumni that is the CEO of a company with a near billion dollar market cap

(Possible, if beneficial) A prominent Federal cabinet minister

Hedge fund manager with 2.2 billion in AUM (Wharton alumni)

Also have a very good teacher recommendation who helped construct my first essay that was published nationally

My biggest detriments I feel is that I'm coming from Canada, had mediocre HS grades if they're required and am now transferring from a mediocre Canadian school.

Anyway I put this in the Penn section to see what current students, or people familiar with the transfer process, think I can do to better my chances of getting accepted.

From what I've heard on here and from others is that HS grades, SATs, etc. are all pretty irrelevant for transfers and much more emphasis is put on current GPA, ECs and things that make you truly unique.

Any feedback at all on what more I could do would be very much appreciated. I wish I could've applied straight out of HS but trying to make the best of things (although it sure seems a lot harder to transfer into these schools).

Cheers

EDIT: Also not sure if they're need blind for international transfers but I don't need any financial aid or anything like that.

EDIT2: Just bought a new car so my friend and I are going to Boston, DC, etc. and I planned on stopping into Wharton and a few other schools to see if I could talk to anyone. Any recommendations on what I should? Can I make an appointment with an admissions officer before hand?
