I dont know how much weight transfer admissions put on high school because I dont have a spectacular gpa and extracurriculars. any comments would be helpful.. thanks!

Transferring from a peer institution should put you ahead of those from lower-tiered ones. With a good freshman GPA (3.5+), you have a great shot.

They put a good bit of weight on high school if you're a sophomore transfer. I actually transferred here too as a sophomore this year and my hs stuff was practically my whole resume. Try and get as close to a 4.0 as possible this year if you want in. My friends that transferred(I live in transfer dorm) had that whether they came from emory or IU. Don't let up in the spring, the deadline for northwestern is may 1 so they will wait for you to send in your spring grades as well before considering, they did that for me. Oh, and kill the essays, they take something like 100 out of 6-700 so essays are big in helping you stand out.
