Transfer chances?

Im a freshman at CNU in Virginia, and I'm applying to JMU, Tech, UMD, and then maybe UVA for the fall of 2006. Here are my grades, just wondering where you think I could get in.

HS GPA: 3.3, was kinda low but I got like a 3.6 and a 3.8 my junior and senior year, and had 5 AP's
SAT: 1280

College GPA after 1st semester: 3.4

I dont know what else theyll look at, but yeah im a Virginia resident so what do you think my chances are at Virginia Tech, James Madison, Maryland and UVA.

no one here has gotten into these schools as a transfer?

you have more than a good shot, depending on what you are majoring in, at all of the schools you mentioned except for UVA

Im business undecided right now, and do you know if schools look at mid semester grades? I have easier classes next semester so im pretty sure ill do better, and I could send those in too, or do they not look at it.

Also, should I even bother applying to UVA or is it basically no chance, I know getting in as a freshman is really hard, but I dont know much about transferring there.

Mcintire is extremely competitive

YOu need close to a 4.0 to be a competitive applicant.

You could try bringing your grades up, send in a mid-semester grade sheet, and apply to the A&S department - Then, you could interally transfer your sophmore year to the business department

The Robert H. Smith undergrad business program at UMDCP is great - however, in your case, it may be a bit hard to get in - i think the program looks for applicants with over a 3.7, maybe 3.6

My advice? Stay at your current school longer and bring your grades up and apply at the end of your sophmore year as a junior transfer.

Take hard classes - get good grades

For UVA ii'm applying to their arts and sciences school because you have to be a junior for the business program. For Maryland, do you know if you enter the business program right away as a freshman or is it as a junior?

i'm not sure about maryland - check their website or just call

if you are serious about UVA, you should wait and apply for your junior year

but i suppose if you get rejected, you could always apply again the year after

anyone else?

You are a shoe in for all of them (minus UVA)
