Transfer Chances

If anyone could merely chance admittance it would be much appreciated.

1) 3.35 cumulative GPA, applying for Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Still undecided, lol.

2) 3.6 cumulative GPA, applying for Computer Science.

3) 3.3 cumulative GPA, applying for Chemical Engineering... Which is the big worry as the site states 3.5 min for out of state but those grades dragging the gpa down are from over a decade ago.

I dont understand why there are three different GPA’s; however, if you have the minimum GPA and ALL OF THE REQUIRED classes completed before you transfer; you will be able to transfer. It is so much easier to transfer to Tech than to get in Freshman admissions. Whatever the website says is what you need.

GOODLUCK

Well… The 3.6 is my “true” GPA discounting the classes I failed or received a D in from CA’s Academic Renewal.

3.3 is my overall GPA including the poor grades which GA Tech considers. And the other 3.3 is the GPA of my friend who is applying for Chemical Engineering which requires a 3.5 cumulative though his 3.3 is the result of classes he took over ten years ago before joining the military. Without any personal statements or anything, I’m worried about him getting him.

3.3 is your true GPA. As I understand it, academic renewal is only considered in CA, but your transcripts will not reflect it when sent to other schools.

GT does not give lenience for classes taken in the past. They do not consider people who don’t meet their minimum requirements, regardless of what the reason is. Your friend can either get his GPA up or choose a less competitive major.

Is it possible to transfer into an engineering major if accepted to something else outside the school? Cause this is his dream school, lol, and mine too after he told me about it.

They state on their website that they usually won’t allow that. I think they actually explicitly say they don’t allow it - but don’t take my word for it, check their website: [Georgia Institute of Technology](http://gatech.edu/).
