So I'm currently a freshman at Appalachian State. I made a 3.9 my first semester with 17 hours. I graduated high school with a 4.16 weighted and a 1780 (1150) SAT. How competitive is transferring to NCSU? And does it help at all that I'm in state? Also, does anyone know if there are any specific class requirements upon transferring, likee if I'm supposed to take calc or any kind of math. I'm also a Political Science major.

My sister was able to transfer to State with similar stats from unc charlotte, good job in your first semester!

meaghanj23, I’m actually trying to transfer as well, and I’m also a political science major too. I would suggest that you schedule a visit. I just recently went and talked to the head of undergrad admissions he told me that they really don’t care what your grades were in high school for transfer students. What they care more about is what classes you took, and as long as you passed them. You also need 30 credit hours to even be considered to transfer in, the earlier you apply then more likely you’ll be accepted he said start applying for the fall in December, and for the spring of 2013 try to have everything in buy the end of this summer. As far a competitiveness remember at state you apply to the university and the college for your major which is the college of humanities and social sciences. You need at least a 3.00 which you’ve got covered, and have taken english comp and a college level math class doesn’t have to be calc just the most basic math will do. Hoped this helped.
