Hey everyone, this is my first time posting here and would like some thoughts regarding my chances for admission to
UT Austin.

I'm currently a Freshman at Wake Forest with a 2.97 GPA double majoring in English and History. I have A's in all of my English and History classes so far (all 300 level)

I attended an extremely competitive private high school and graduated with a 3.0 GPA, played sports and published prose and poetry yearly in a literary magazine. (It's worth noting that the 3.0 reflected straight A's in English and History and C's in Math and Sciences)

I understand my grades are on the low side, but coming from a Top 25 school is an advantage, correct?
My essays should be very strong, as are my recommendations.

*I forgot to add, standardized test scores are as follows
ACT: 29
ACT English: 34
Spanish SAT 2: 680
US History SAT 2: 760
US History AP: 5
English Lit AP: 5
English Lang AP: 5

i find it unlikely that you will get in this time around. UT states on their website that the kinds of GPAs they take seriously are above a 3.0, that being said if you have amazing essays it could maybe happen. I would say work hard this semester and if you don’t get in this time around try reapplying :)

First off your high school records no longer matter if you are a transfer. They don’t even require you to send in a high school transcript. And honestly a 2.97 isn’t exactly the best. You really need a 3.2 to at least be competitive (for COLA anyway since that’s what I assume you want to get into). If you have solid essays explaining your situation you might have a chance at COLA since it’s the easiest to get into.
