Hey, I’m currently enrolled at a community college in New York, however, I went to a top 30 liberal arts college last year and didn’t enjoy my time there and thought the price was not worth it. So I am currently finishing my second semester up at CC and will likely be transferring to another 4-year in the fall.
Major: Unsure, really any science major (biology, chemistry, psychology, neuroscience), pre-med track
LAC GPA: 3.6
CC GPA: 3.5 (I got As in calculus and biology, but I took an economics class and did poorly but I have no intention on studying this). Will probably be a 3.7 after this semester.
These are the colleges I’ve applied to:
University of San Francisco
University of San Diego
Santa Clara University
Occidental
Pitzer
USC
@mrobs2 I’m interested in hearing your experiences as you wade your way through the process!
If it’s not too painful, can you please elaborate on why your LAC didn’t work out for you? My son (currently in CC) is quite introverted and everyone keeps telling him an LAC would be best, but he also doesn’t like the idea of being under a spotlight in small classes, especially since he likes time to ponder questions before he answers.
I am in the same exact boat as you, I was at Pitzer playing football down there and really did not enjoy it and am now doing my second semester at a CC in Sacramento. I just got accepted into USF, and saw that we are both applying to SCU, USD, and USD. If you were not a huge fan of the super small LAC set up, I highly recommend against attending Pitzer or Oxy. Good luck on applications!
I’m actually rather extroverted and my former college was fun, socially, but there weren’t many activities after class and the kids were very homogenous.
