Transfer Chances?

I am looking to possibly transfer into UCLA as a major in Biochemistry.

Right now after the fall semester I have a 3.67 gpa. The only reason I have a 3.67 gpa is because of my first semester I have two dropped classes and a C in both classes that i didnt drop, government and psychology.

My winter semester of last year I managed to pull off a 4.0 taking Chemistry1, Biology, PreCalc and History.

I enrolled in two summer courses earning me a 4.0 in microbiology and English101.

This semester I took Calc 1, Honors Chem2, Physics 1 and English102 and got a 4.0 that semester also.

That is around 45 credits worth of classes.

Are you in TAP? If so, then don't worry about it and just keep up the hard work.

If not, then really try to get the GPA over the 3.75-3.80 range because Biochemistry is pretty tough to get into. Good luck.

what is TAP? And are my two C's going to hurt me even though my other grades are good? Is there anything I can do about it?

It's the Transfer Alliance Program:

You have a good chance of getting accepted. I know of two people that transferred into chem and biochem with a lower GPA.

I got in biochem with 3.3. Someone got in with 3.0. I even have 2 Ds and many C's in my transcript. No TAP

If you still have time, take biochem in SMC, so that you don't need to take chem 153A and 153L in here. That saves you a lot of time.

burgler09,

UCLA: Match

you still have 15 more credits to go, so its another chance to raise your gpa if your worried about it... even though like everyone said your gpa is very good for your major anyways.

On the UCLA admissions site, the average admitted GPA for biochem was 3.61.
