Transfer Chances

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to look at this. I am considering trying to transfer from UCONN to UVA's business school. I did pretty bad in high school (2.8 gpa my senior year) I dont know what my cumulative GPA was and my Sat's were a 1050. I have since then decided to turn things around and I now have a 4.0 on the business track at UCONN. I am manager of the hockey team and have had internships with the captiol twice, a finincial consulting internship, and sold cars. I also am manager of a local movie store and occasionaly work at the school gym. If there is any other information you need to know to help decide just post it. Thanks

I forgot to mention that I am a sophmore.

From what I've heard, If you're applying to be a third-year, your high school transcript matters very little. So, I think you have a good shot, especially with the stellar GPA and competative extra-curriculars.

Thanks very much, any other ideas anyone

You might want to emphasize your improvement and work experience in your essays. Also, make it clear what you want to do there. This could help, but in the end, it probably just comes down to your GPA and some dumb luck. I'd be suprised if you didn't get in. Your record indicates what they're looking for: a very bankable student who will keep their stats up and will continue with agressive academics.

Do you still want to UVA if you cannot get into the commerce school (I'm assuming you're talking about mcintire)? If so, make sure to make a note on your application-- I attended a transfer session a couple weeks ago, and the associate dean of transfer admissions said that even if you can't get into the comm school, as it is really difficult to, then you could still at least get a spot in CLAS (if you note this on your application). You seem very competitive for a spot in CLAS if you so choose.
