Transfer chances

I am currently at Western Michigan University and want to transfer for this Spring admissions. My gpa freshman year was horrible and i ended up with a 2.6. But my sophomore year was 4.0 both terms bringing my GPA to 3.4. Would a 3.4 be too low to transfer, and will my boost in grades during my 2nd year help me in any way?

How hard is it to get in OOS?

What's OOS?

out of state

Apply to the College of Liberal Arts for your best chance. Even then, I don't think a 3.4 OOS will cut it.

Ksi, in order to properly answer your question we need to know your major. It won't do any good for you to directly transfer into liberal arts with a 3.4 if your major isn't in liberal arts because they probably won't let you change it.

my major would be economics, i desperately want to go to ut austin i love it there

Actually, you might have a chance getting into economics. But is that really what you want to do, or it is just something you're going to major in just so you can go to UT? How many semester hours do you have total? If you can wait another semester and pull a higher GPA, that would help.

The other problem is that UT might not accept hours from Michigan.

i will have more than 60 credits and some wont transfer, i am majoring in economics because that is what i really want to do, i am planning on going into corporate law

Economics is a very good degree for law school, but if you can't get into law school, you might wish you majored in something else. An economics degree with a MBA might also work real well.

I talked to a UT grad with an economics degree and he said he had to really, really push himself to get careers because a lot of his potential employers really wanted finance or accounting degrees.
