<p>hey, so i'll be a freshman at large state university in the fall. i already did a summer term because i was in their accelerated bs/md program. but because of illness and uncertainty of wanting to become a doctor, i decided to withdraw. my illness also affected both my senior year and summer grades.
HS gpa: 4.1 at a college-prep high school
ACT: 35 english, 33 math and reading, 30 science
Extracurriculars: newspaper (co-editor-in-chief), chemistry club (co-pres), national honor society (group leader), film club, yearbook, volunteer at 4 hospitals, flutist and pianist
Awards: honor roll, community service award, orchestra award, clarkson university achievement award, summa cum laude on national latin exam
middle-class, indian female
College gpa: 3.5
International relations major, english minor, and premed
i applied for the class of 2011 this past year, but was rejected. i had a pretty good interview though.
what are my chances for fall 2008?</p>
<p>FYI, interviews don't count for much.</p>
<p>Your college resume is going to be MUCH more important than what you did in high school.</p>
<p>A few weeks ago there were 2-3 posters with questions about transferring to Yale. Look for those threads for everyone's thoughts on the transfer process.</p>
<p>Statistically, it's more difficult to transfer into Y (which given the 9% freshman admit rate -- is even more staggering). You've to show EXCEEDINGLY superior collegiate performance -- and overcome the reasons why you were first rejected (not that you'll have access to that info -- but the admissions office will).</p>
<p>Frankly, the best advice I can give you is to REALLY enjoy the school you'll be attending and not get your hopes up about transferring. You'll miss opportunities to really become loyal to your current college -- which I'm sure will be filled with challenges and novel things to explore.</p>
