Me:
- black male
- Catholic
- Michigan resident

High school:
-3.8 gpa
- captain for both basketball and soccer
- low ACT score, took it once and got a 21.(should I retake it?)

College stats:

Freshman year: 3.45 at top 100 LAC with 33 credits.
Sophmore year: I should have a 3.96 at Community College with 22 credits including summer classes.
Next semester I'm going to Wisconsin-Madison, and I hope to have a 3.5 gpa.

I'm going to UW-madison, and I'm sure I will like it, but Notre Dame is my dream school and so I have to apply. I've never applied because I just didn't see myself getting in.

I have taken their freshman courseload-- calc 2, calc, bio, geology, english...ect.

Basically, I will have around 67 credits at three universities. Will this and my really low ACT score make it impossible to have a chance at ND????

Would it help to stay at my CC for another semester and not go to Madison?

I would probably go to Madison though they will wonder why you have bounced around so much, so be prepared to explain why you are at your third college. As long as you can explain it you will be alright. Also watch your total credit count, they may be concerned as you must complete half of your degree at ND. Another consideration is if you have taken the right classes, so be sure to check the ND website to make sure your meet those requirements. What major are you thinking of trying to transfer into?

I created a website on transferring to ND Transferring to Notre Dame. It is now at my graduate school email address but the info is still up to date, though you do have a unique situation. Good luck!

Thanks for the response irish, your website was also a great help. I'm an economics major and have taken 2 semesters of calculus, as well as the other courses needed to transfer.

As far as credits go, I'm going to assume that two of my classes won't transfer, one is a freshman seminar class that was required at my LAC, and the other is an accounting class. So I should have around 60 credits that Will be transferable, the maximum amount.

It shouldn't matter much since you will be a transfer but I would ask transfer admissions just in case. I don't see it being a big issue though.
