So, I definitely want to transfer. Here are my stats:

Freshman at Bard College
Chem/Psych Major
A First Year Seminar
A Calculus II
B+ General Psychology
B/B+ General Chemistry
30 ACT (34R/31E/30M/26S)

I play college rugby, write for The Observer (the official school paper), in Amnesty Internatial (currently planning a human rights festival), and am currently studying Brazilian Jujistu. I play percussion and am currently playing in a psychedelic jam group. I also am a research assistant to the head of the Chem department; I do pretty expensive and complicated experiements for a professor with a small group of select chemisty student.

In high school I was class treasurer, played four years varsity football, had multiple bands which recorded and played shows, and held two jobs for almost all of high school. I had a 3.2 UW at private catholic and was 32/177. I took the hardest course load possible.

Right now my list is:
Vassar
Tufts
Bowdoin
Wesleyan

Vassar sent me recruitment papers for crew, even though I've never done crew before...I don't know if that will help. I think my Tufts essay would be great, seeing as when I was rejected from Tufts I was tutoring kids who were later accepted to Ivies, and now that I'm trying to transfer to Tufts, I'm tutoring kids who were accepted to Tufts that chose to go to Bard. I think I have a convincing arguement as to why I'm academically worthy. The other schools are just schools I like, I have no preconceived hooks there.

Are there any other schools I should apply to? I really don't want to downgrade academically, but maybe I need another match?

Almost all Bowdoin frosh return for their 2nd yr so the chances of getting in are slim. WU has the best #s of the four for transfer. Look at the WU website under chem dept and see who you have similiar research interests w/ and get in contact w/ him (or the few hers in the dept). Include that in your essay.

I talked to the department, they have a wonderful Neuroscience major which has a 5 year BA/MA program that takes me through almost all the chemistry I would do as a chem major, all the biology I would ever need, and then most of the psychology I'll need. It looks like a great program. Hopefully I can use that to help me.

And a quote from Wesleyan transfer admissions:

Hi Mike,

For 2007, 66% of the matriculants had a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

So, there is a decent possiblity I will end with a 3.75. If I get higher than a 90 on my Calc and Psych finals, and higher than a 82 on my Chem final...I'll definitely have a 3.75. How does this help my chances at Wesleyan, Tufts, Vassar, and Brandeis?

I have a meeting with the Vassar rowing coach on Monday and he's going to show me around...he said I'd be a great addition to the team. Possible hook?

I really need help with other schools that I can expect to get good aid from. If I don't get atleast as much as Bard gave me (24K scholarship,3.5K loan, workstudy) I can't do there. My EFC was 19K.
