transfer chances??

I'm looking to transfer into UNC next year. I would be a sophomore and I currently attend the University of Miami (FL).

I graduated high school with around a 4.2 (I can't even remember anymore!) and I had a 31 on the ACT. I just missed the top 10% -- I was 22/201 or something like that.

I'm not sure what my GPA is going to be after first semester but it definitely won't be a 4.0 or anything... probably around a 3.5. My courseload is fairly difficult I guess:
1st semester:
chem I
chem I lab
calculus I
geography
intro to theatre
english composition I
(17 credits .. the maximum that freshmen can take)

2nd semester:
chem II
chem II lab
calculus II
accelerated spanish
english composition II
intro to psychology
(again, 17 credits).

I also have an additional twelve credits from dual enrollment in high school, so I'll have a total of 46 credits.

I had a lot of extracurriculars in high school so I'm not worried about that but I've participated in less things in college. I'm in a sorority so that gets me involved in a lot of community service work.. I'm in the pre-medical honor society (alpha epsilon delta).. i was a site leader for a campus-wide community service project, and a few other things.

Also, I have a brother at UNC -- probably doesn't help much, if any at all.

So, what do you think my chances are? I'm not getting my hopes up, but I really would like to go there! Thanks for any help!

You're stats seem good but I really know nothing of transfer admissions standards.

Good Luck!

I mean, I really don't know a lot about transfer things, but it definitely seems like you have a lot to offer. Good luck!

well sophmore transfers are a bit harder than junior transfers, but it depends alot on what your GPA actually is for this semester. i would say if you get a 3.5+ you have a good shot, but if it ends being a 3.3 or below it might be a bit harder. did you apply out of high school?

yeah, i know it's going to depend a lot on my gpa. i just started thinking about transferring this week actually... if i had thought about it earlier i probably would have worked a little harder to try to get my gpa a little higher, but oh well. my brother that goes there didn't apply there originally either.. he just transferred in this year as a sophomore and he went to boston college freshman year. but he hated BC so much that he studied a lottt and had a really good gpa. i guess it's good that i'll still be happy if i don't end up getting in because i do like miami and everything, but i only live like 45 minutes away from there so i find myself going home all the time and i think it would be better for me if i wasn't so close to home. anyways, i know that had nothing to do with anything, but no, i didn't apply out of high school.

anyone else?? sorry to keep asking! is it worth applying?

wow, you sound just like me...I'm a freshman (not in a frat though) trying to transfer out of UM too because I hate being 40 minutes away from home and going home every damn weekend...but yeah you stand a really a good chance of transferring out and unc took something like 38% last year for transfers...do you think you could chance me if I post my stats and how did you do on Dr. Eve's final?
