I'm a freshman at the George Washington University looking to transfer. My current major is IR, but I'm thinking about Economics as well. How would my chances be? I know Cornell takes a lot of transfers, but does that really mean it's easier to get in?
First Semester GPA: 3.80 (17 credits)
High School: 4.0 (Small rural high school though, APs not offered)
SAT: CR 680 Math 650 Writing 670

Also should I think about retaking the SATs since it's been about a year since I last took them. Thanks.

Make sure you have good essays and that they demonstrate your "fit" with the Cornell program that you're applying to...Pre-reqs are a must too. And they can be random. I had to take Bio 1 and 2 all last summer to get into AEM. Other than that your grades seem fine if you can keep them consistently in the 3.75-4.0 range. Oh, and I know CALS didn't even ask for SATs but idk how CAS is with that.

Hi, if anyone has anymore advice that would help a lot, thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what the requirements are for transferring but I wouldn't think they'd look that much at SAT scores anymore even though you may need to submit them. I think they would focus a lot more on what you have done with college level work at your current school. I believe that transfer applicants are looked at in a separate applicant pool from incoming freshmen so retaking the SATs doesn't really make sense. But to be sure, you might want to email someone in the CAS admissions office (different from the university admissions office). (I'm assuming you are applying to CAS for econ--I guess you didn't really say that for sure.)
