Transfer chances?

I am in the process of getting my associates in Advertising Graphic Design at my local community college in the spring. I have been carefully selecting schools to apply to for fall '09 all out of state. I was just wondering if anyone can give me an opinion if I have a good chance of being accepted or not.

I went to Ramapo College for a year and left with a 2.3 GPA and 9 credits that transferred. I am not sure if that will hurt my chances or not.

Currently at my community college I have a 3.7 GPA with 33 credits. I will be transferring with about 67 credits.

I do not believe I have to include my high school information after having accumulated so many credits, but just incase, I had an 1160 SAT and about a 3.2 GPA.

My list of schools includes (but is not limited to):
James Madison University
SUNY Oswego
SUNY New Paltz
SUNY Purchase
Millersville University
Montclair State University
Kean University (as a fallback if I must commute for some reason)

thanks in advance!!!!

I recently transferred from a community college. I had the same GPA as you in high school as well as at CC. This is the thing: because you went to the community college and started over, they will be more concerned with your most recent progress. As for high school, it's loosely taken into account, but really doesn't matter. I would suggest retaking the SAT 1 just to be competitive, but I don't even think most schools require it if you are a transfer. Good luck!

I believe if you transfer with over a certain amount of credits you do not need SATs which is good because I never want to take that test again haha. Also I am transferring into a BFA program so I know my portfolio will be the judge of if I get into my intended major so that is a whole different project completely.

I cannot apply just yet to all these schools and I am very eager to know what the outcomes will/might be!!!

I think you have a great shot at James Madison. Wow, great job! Way to turn things around. You are on firm ground and will do well wherever you decide to go.

Best of luck!

Thanks!! It is amazing what can happen to one's mindset when they almost lose the privilege to go to school.. 110% effort all the way this time around!!
