Transfer Chances

Hi everyone. I'm a freshman at UBC considering transfer to a US college. I got rejected by a few US colleges as a freshman due to low freshman and sophomore grades. Cumulative was a 3.3, but I managed a 4.2 as a senior (took 12 IB classes, mostly higher, in total) and my grades are on a constant rise. SAT was 2030 total (700 CR, 680 M, 650 WR), and SAT II was 710 physics 690 math II. For my 1st semester in UBC I'm looking at a 3.5-3.8. I'm currently considering Wake Forest, Emory(rejected as freshman), Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Davidson(also rejected as freshman), Vassar, UW, BU, UCLA and Berkley, NYU, UNC, and UMich. Considering my background, which schools do I have a reasonable chance of getting in, (if any) which I ask since I dont want to be wasting my app fees. Also, should I go ahead and apply this year while my grades are surely good but with only 1-2 semesters, or wait until next year? I'd greatly appreciate answers to these questions.

Based on your freshman results, I’d say that Wake, UW and BU will be your best bets. The other state schools will be difficult as they are the most selective in the US. And the rest of the privates are at the same or higher level of selectivity as schools you were rejected at last year. I’m not sure of the transfer acceptance rates for those specific schools, but in general, transfer rates tend to be lower than for freshman admissions.

While your upward trend sr year is good, I’m not sure that it will compensate for the rest of your HS record, which will have the most weight as a soph transfer. If you do well as at UBC, get to know your profs and participate in ECs, you would have a better chance at the higher schools as a jr transfer.

Thanks for the answer. What you said is kinda what I guessed myself, except I’m not really sure about Wake. Can anybody suggest other good colleges which I have a reasonable chance for??
