I am a freshmen at the University of Pennsylvania, and I have come to realize that the city life, among other things, is just not for me. I am going to try to make it work, but I feel I should look at other options:

Major at Penn: Bioengineering (which I would want to continue at Dartmouth)
GPA First Semester: 3.71
High School GPA: 97/100 (High School Valedictorian)
SAT I: 1550/2310
SAT II: 800, 800, 760 (Math II, European History, Biology)
EC: A lot of stuff for high school, (SGA, sports, lots of leadership); less for college but a few

I did not apply to Dartmouth senior year.

Any chances and/or advice would be greatly appreciated? I am not really sure how I should be approaching this whole "transfer process"?

Most people don't really know about transfer chances on here. It's really hard to tell, because they don't really need to accept anybody as a transfer, but will do so in certain compelling cases. Make sure you can detail a good reason you want to transfer.

Other than that, your profile is obviously competitive enough to be a Dartmouth student. But, nobody here could possibly gauge your likelihood of actually getting in. It can be much more arbitrary than freshman admissions.

If I were to make a random 'shot in the dark' of a chances for you, I would say you have a good shot. You have a high GPA from a peer institution. Although, it seems that they care a lot less about where you are transferring from than you might think. (One or two of the transfer students I know are from schools I hadn't previously heard of.)

As a transfer consideration, you might want to look for suitable schools that have stated they are planning to increase their enrollment, too. Bowdoin is an example. (I have no idea whether they have bioengineering or whether you want to go to a school that size, but I'm sure you get the idea.)

First of all, it seems like you have a great shot, although as Dartmoose says, they don't necessarily have room.

Second, I think you should consider Brown, which also has a significantly different vibe than Penn but is far less capricious with transfers than Dartmouth. I think that you would be accepted.
