You have a great chance for transferring to Emory…

You could have gotten into Emory as a Senior in high school…great Act scores…You could also get into Rice as a transfer…You would have stood a chance at Rice as a high school senior too…don’t submit your sat scores just the act…Are you planning on applying to that program that Emory has with GT…(very highly ranked bme program)…

Keep in mind that you will have to participate in Emory’s dual-degree engineering program with Georgia Tech… you will not be able to earn an engineering degree from Emory. However, with this program, you will earn a degree from both Emory and GT, which looks really good for grad school or a job. Downside is that it is VERY INTENSE, from what I heard. But it is up to you. Someone who is currently in the dual-degree program can hopefully give more info. Here’s some info on the program in the meanwhile: [Emory College | Current Students | Special Degrees: Pre-Engineering Curriculum: Dual-Degree Program](Error 404: Page Not Found)

If you are looking at anything else besides engineering (i.e. natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, mathematics, etc.), I would definitely recommend transferring to Emory. However, I think you might be better off transferring to a school such as Rice or Duke… your stats are pretty good for Rice. Rice’s graduate BME program is ranked 6th or 8th in the nation, above Stanford and tied with UPenn’s. But you can’t go wrong with Emory either; you will just have to participate in this special program.

I’m advertising Emory as well too… I gave him a link to the Emory/GT 3+2 program and have recommended Emory to many of the posters on CC. The only reason I continue coming onto the Emory forum is because I still love Emory… since freshman year of high school until April of my senior year, I thought it would be the college I end up at. I also have spent hours upon hours researching Emory throughout my four years of high school and visited the campus 3 times. I’m very knowledgeable of this school and want to share my expertise.

At the same time, I also want to spread the word about Rice for those students considering applying/transferring to Emory because it is an equally good school that few people know about (the hidden gem, like Emory). You all should be more welcoming; I was very close to being an Emory student myself (if only they gave more aid that would have made it less expensive) :)

No problem… I agree that I should stop advertising Rice on the Emory board; it is rude of me, but i was just trying to be helpful. I just wanted you to know where I was coming from; i apologize if I came out as rude or anything. Be sure to enjoy Emory…it’s an amazing school! I wish I got to see the Green dorms (I think they are called Few/Evans), but the tour guide was inflexible and said he couldn’t show us the dorms.

I also think it is ironic that I got an email from an Emory adviser yesterday telling me about the environmental studies major… it looks like Emory thinks I’m a student there too :)
