Unfortunately, I was not able to sign up for a English lit. class because I have not yet met the prerequisite (ENG 112). Luckily, MUS 121 fufills the same requirement that an English Lit class would for most of the schools i'm looking at.

SAT Score:
V: 680
M: 610
W: 640

Total: 1930

I know I can get a better score - i was extremely sick the morning of the SAT test...

Will a score of 1930 reflect poorly on my application? Should I include or omit the scores?

I'm applying to the aforementioned schools for the Spring 2006 semester.

I would appreciate any comments or feedback.

Thanks

I forgot to mention something for the foreign language requirement for most universities.

I plan on taking a SAT II Language test to become exempt from any foreign language requirements.

21 credits in a summer session??!! That's insane!!!

UMD would be your safety since they have an articulation agreement w/ NVCC. UVA, Penn, & Columbia are reaches - not sure about GW. To give you an idea: I applied to George Mason (safety), American University (match), UVA and William & Mary (reaches) w/ a 3.95 GPA (61 credits) & 1150 (old) SAT; accepted @ GMU, AU honors (& partial scholarship) and W&M; waitlisted at UVA (and eventually denied). I'm proud to say I will be attending W&M in the fall.

Which NVCC campus? If Annandale, I suggest taking Schuhart for English (112 or Am Lit) he's the best!

Do you think I should submit my SAT scores?

You should apply to Georgetown.

Georgetown does not accept applications for the Spring semesters..besides, they aren't too keen on community college students. :P

I'm in a similar situation nontrad. Very close GPA's, non-traditional, from a CC. I applied to Georgetown this past winter, and was rejected. I'll be applying to UPenn for next fall, along with 50billion other schools. Hehe. :)

You should consider NYU, and maybe Brown.

I didn't have to send in SAT scores this year to Georgetown, but that's because I took them 5 years prior and they have a waiver. I feel that if you have 38 credits, you may not be required to send them in, but I'm not certain on everyone's policy. Mine are..well..marginal to say the very least, I'm considering retaking them..I'm not sure yet though!

will a score of 1930 reflect poorly on my application? Or is 1930 good enough for a transfer student?

i forgot to mention i'm a virginian resident - won't that make it easier for me to be accepted at UVA?

Wise crack eh? I shall do to you what I did to Kermit the Frog!

I am fully aware that some schools require the score irregardless of how many credits you have received and that some schools do not require a SAT score after a certain number of credits.

My question is, will a score of 1930 reflect poorly on me? Is 1930 considered a 'decent' score? I debating on whether to submit my SAT score or omit it, depending on how my score will be received.

nontrad9,
I don't know about the other schools but I know UVa takes very few transfer students for the spring semester. It is much easier to transfer in the fall than the spring.

A stat I heard about UVa spring transfers is that they have 200 applicants for 25 measly spots. 12.5% acceptance rate - yikes. But for the fall they have more openings and a smaller ratio of students/open spots, so it is a lot easier to transfer to UVa in the fall - something like 45% acceptance rate for in-state, I believe.

not that i work for UVA or anything, but I bet you'll be one of the 25. If not, you can always apply again in the fall.

I think you'd be accepted though.

why doesnt Gtown like community college kids? I dont understand the logic in that. Does anyone know?

I am not sure; my friend recently transferred from community college. Perhaps this preference is contingent on the specific department to which one is applying.
