Transfer Chances?

So I was denied by 2/3rds of the schools I applied to and now find myself in an awkward spot going to the school that was one at the bottom of my list.

I'm going to George Washington University in the Fall for Integrated mechanical engineering and law. However, GW's engineering program is not very strong and I'm worried that I won't find a job upon graduation.

My HS GPA: UW: 3.30/W: 3.60
Rank: Top 5% 34/917
SAT: 2140 : 680 CR, 700W, 760M
Subject Tests: 700 MathII, 730 USH

I took the most rigorous course load in high school with a total of 5 APs (English, Physics C, Calc BC, US History, Government and Politics)

I had ok ECs.. Editor of the newspaper, All County for quizbowl, Mock Trial, Boeing Program etc etc.

So my question is, hypothetically if I maintain a 3.9+ GPA for the first year at GW, what schools could I transfer into?

Bump anyone?

3.3 UW and Top 5%? No offense, but where do you go to school?

Sorry, just had to ask. With a 3.9 from such a university, I believe you could transfer almost anywhere.

Large public school with like 4000 kids outside Philadelphia

I’m unfamiliar with the transfer process. If I wanted to enter as a sophomore, do I apply during my freshmen year at GW?

With a 3.9+ GPA I assume schools like Rice, Northwestern, JHU are attainable. How about any Ivies? Also how easy would it be to switch my major as I transfer to another school? I was in love in UChicago and was deferred EA and then rejected this year. However, would love to study economics there.
