Transfer Chances

I currently am a freshman at a small rural LAC, and am thinking about transferring to Georgetown.

My HS GPA: 3.6
SAT: 1940 (M: 610 W: 690 CR: 640)
HS EC's:
Varsity Cross Country, Swimming, Lacrosse
Captain of the Swim Team
SGA VP, Senator
President of Ski/Snowboard Club
Competed in USASA Snowboard Nationals
Member of NHS

College EC's so far:
Crew Team
Environmental Advocacy Group

College GPA: currently taking 16 credits, but honestly the classes aren't very difficult, and I've been working really hard
How can I best prepare myself to get into Georgetown as a transfer?

I'm applying to the College, but maybe MSB I think....definitely not SFS

Hey I was in your position, had a 3.6 HS GPA went to a small LAC and got into the Business school. SATs (CR+M) were 1150, ACT 28. White male from PA.

Basically my stats weren’t great so I worked my first year of college. I had a 3.9 GPA; took 18 credits first semester, 21 credits second semester, was a part of student government, highly active in habitat for humanity ( i did a trip to indonesia) and also a service trip to guatemala. It was alot to make up for my lack of impressive HS resume, so choose a few things to stand out, I think my essays helped alot. Best of luck! You have a shot but its going to be rough (I made it off of the extended transfer waitlist)

Well that gives me hope! Thanks a lot! Yeah I definitely need to get more involved.

Currently a Freshman at George Washington University, in the Elliott School of International Affairs.
Will be applying as an incoming Sophomore into SFS.
My Major is IA, with a possible minor in Asian Studies.

HS GPA: 3.5 UW, 4.1 Weighted
SAT: 1220/1900

College GPA: Not 100% sure, but probably around 3.8-4.0 so far into first semester.
I expect to do the same next semester.

ExC’s:
HS: Leadership positions in band (heavily involved in one of the top HS bands in VA for 4 years), Young Democrats (Canvassed for Obama in 2008 election), NHS, BETA, Hundreds of Community service hours, ranging from work camps in North Carolina to raising money for the mentally handicapped with my Church’s Knights of Columbus. Served as an usher for four years at my church.

College: International Affairs Society, Japanese American Student Club (currently serving as the Freshman rep on the e-board), Korean Cultural Organization, joining the Kendo and Aikido clubs soon (next semester).

I don’t know if they take race into account, but I’m of Asian descent.

Thanks!
