Transfer + Change of Major

Hello,

I'm considering transferring schools to Syracuse and wanted to know how tough it was to get in. I know GPA is not the only factor, so what else? Do they look at EC's specific to the major you are looking to get into or just anything in general?

I'm currently an Industrial Engineering major at Georgia Tech, but have seen that it's not really the right one for me...at all. This means that I want to transfer into SU with another major; would this decision make it harder for me to get admitted?

PS: I'm considering either Business or Architecture, but I'm assuming Architecture requires that I show them a portfolio...so I'm really not sure.

Thanks.

I do not understand why you would go from a Higher ranked school to one thats lower…but to each his own. You do need a portfolio and you will be interviewed for Architecture since it is highly competitive. Over a 3.0 is recommended but really 3.4-3.5 will get you in. You need to complete certain amount of credits at SU to actually be edible . For business all you need is a 3.0 and above and complete certain amount of credits. good luck

right repos…cause ranking is all that matters…

to the op: architecture at SU is #2 in the country…

And if you are still an undergraduate, then architecture will probably require you to start again at the beginning…as a freshman…unless you have taken studio design courses at your current university. Syracuse offers a Bachelor of Architecture, which is a 10-semester studio sequence, and you must take all the studios, and take them in order. And they don’t offer the fall semester studio in the spring or the summer, so it’s hard to catch up. The credits you have already taken will count as electives, so you’d probably have a lighter non-architecture load than your classmates, but you’re still probably stuck with the 10-semester studio sequence.
