Transfer Class of 2012 Represent

where are my peeps? my fellow back door admits?

don't be shy, lets mingle with these freaks...lol...i mean lets mingle with our fellow Golden Bears...

lol

idk if i am excited or not, but i am glad that i get the opportunity to live in a totally different city and experience education at the premier public university in the nation.

i spent 83 minutes on the phone with my counselor and he gave me great information and tips.....exploit the resources available kids....

post here if you are a proud UC Transfer Student to Berkeley, Class of 2012!

♥♥♥♥♥

sure, why not lol, though i’ll probably end up graduating closer to 2013 than 2012 lol

Going to Cal in Fall. I’ll be the one scoring with a bunch of sorority girls getting hooked up with all that reggae music on Telegraph. I still can’t believe that in all likelihood I will be staying a block away from Telegraph. Used to go there in H.S. with no idea that I would later be attending school here. Crazy.

mon amie lomkh why 2013? D:
did you transfer 70 units over?

cooldude6- i love that confidence of yours…lol…

In Letters and Science you have to take 60 units of L&S regardless of whether you transfer 60 or 70.

[Degree Requirements-Unit Requirements](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirements/unit.html)

it’s not a bad thing since i skipped a year at ccc anyways lol, but i can do so because i only have about 45 units of coursework that has to count towards the maximum to graduate while i have about 46 units from ap courses plus ccc classes i took while in high school which i can choose to exclude from the maximum unit limit to graduate…so i’ll transfer with 70 units though i can exclude some of these later, this’ll allow me to take some of the many many classes i would like to take lol, as much i like the idea of a haas and econ double major, doing it in just 2 years doesn’t let me take many of the econ electives which sound soo interesting to me

coooldude6- don’t start freaking people out! it doesn’t say that you have to take those 60 units at Berkeley…i applied to L&S and took courses to fulfill the L&S requirements…it doesn’t specify that they must be taken at Berkeley…plus i talked to several people about this.

lomkh- yeah hass/econ double major…would be difficult to do in 2 years…regardless…
sux that you probably wont be taking any of those interesting and cool electives :/

Oh, so those 60 units of L&S are all thought of as our two years at cc?

Edit: By the way, the chick at my transfer center was the one that told me that the 60 units had to be taken at UC Berkeley.

if you took the appropriate classes then yes.

i spoke to my undergrad adviser, two counselors…one of them i spoke to extensively over the phone…and i made sure i asked him how many units i would need to take at for L&S at Berkeley.

they all confirmed that because i have 70 transferring over to L&S…i would only need to complete 50…36 which must be upp-div for my major and 6 units upp-divs outside my major…then the remaining could be whatevs.

i dont trust these advisers/counselors because we all know how they suck…but…i believe that that is all i need.

now i am freaking out. find out at CalSo…since i know you guys have it coming up soon…where is emilsinclair9 maybe he could add something to this mess.

Don’t get me wrong. It sounded kind of fishy since that is the same number, 60, that we need to be able to transfer. I sure hope this is right. I want to take some public policy classes but they aren’t in L&S.

yeah idk now you have me thinking and i hope tomorrow is a good day for inquires at Berkeley…via the phone of course…

yeah i asked my counselor yesterday and he said that i would be able to take some classes in CNR (college of natural resources) and he referred me to an advisor there and he said it wouldn’t be a problem…idk if you could do the same for GSPP…i dont see why not…you just need to talk to an advisor there and see if you meet the prereqs (if any) for the courses you are interested in taking.

Cool. I sent a message to my Admissions Officer. She’s helped me out twice already. Always gives me a message the next morning. I’ll post her answer here when I get it.

k thnx bro,i will be looking forward to that…cuz it never hurts to ask and hear from as many people as possible.

@lomkh: we are required to graduate in may 2012. didn’t u sign the haas contract?

^yep, and i talked to a couple of people, i can’t take any business courses after may so i have to meet all the haas requirements by then, however, apparently i’m allowed to continue working on econ or whatever else i want to do in later semesters, just not allowed to take any ugba courses, and i think i have to wait to get my degree until i also get one from the major i’m doubling in

Ok, I got an email back from my Admissions Officer. Kind of vague but here it is.

Yes, you are allowed 70 transferable units, but it will be up to
Letters and Science what courses they will allow for their requirements.
So you may end up with more than 120 units when you graduate.

hmm that is vague…but totes cool that she replied so fast!

Moving to North Oakland a week from today, and starting summer session in two and a half weeks! I’m so excited!

I transferred in too!

Don’t say it’s backdoor as EVERYONE in California has the opportunity to go to a CCC and do this… and save hella money in the process

cooldude, wt f that doesn’t even answer the question
hellahella represent! norcal & CAL ftw! fall admit c/o 2012 baby
