Transfer Confusion

(made the mistake of posting this in NOT the place I wanted! >:l)

Stupid questions galore from ignorant me:

So, I'm silly. And a hopeful and aspiring transfer to UCI as an English Major. And enrolled as a Freshman at a community college. And I'm wondering if anyone can explain to me the following words, words, words:

This major does not require the completion of prerequisites for admission as a
transfer student. However, one year of lower-division writing must be completed

prior to enrolling in any UC Irvine English or Literary Journalism courses.

This is found in assist.org, the Articulation Agreement courses from transferring from CC to UCI as an English major. What do these words exactly...mean? And I'm completely serious - I look at the words and I don't want to be wrong on what I think they are, so if anyone can clarify, that would be fantastic. And I'd be uberly appreciative. Furthermore - with that, should I just focus on finishing up my gen-ed classes for this semester before working all (and getting worked-up) over my transfer requisite classes?

Also - is it possible to complete any gen-ed classes during the summer? Or rather - maybe the better question is, is it advisable?

Thanks all for reading - even those that just drop by - and replying. I really, really, reallllyyy appreciate it. Much gratitude.

It means even if you don’t complete all the pre-requisite courses for the English major, you will still be considered for admission. However, you will need to complete on year (or two semesters) of lower-division writing class prior to your enrollment at UCI.

Thank you ever so much. I thought that was what it was saying - but I wasn’t…well. Sure. Now I don’t have to freak out (too much) about completing everything (like Spanish again), other than the lower-writing! Thanks again!

out of curiosity, what exactly is it about the english department at UCI that’s got your attention?
