As a junior transfer, there are a few categories of core requirements I should complete (I, II, III, V). I can fulfill these requirements prior to transfer but that would give me a huge workload and makes me feel uneasy. So are the core requirements necessary to transfer? Would I get a big advantage over other applicants if I finish them prior to transferring? Disadvantage if not finished?

You should try to finish as much of them as you can prior to transferring just to make it easier for yourself. I personally took courses from Cat. III and V only, leavig me with 4 core classes to complete at USC (IV and VI must be done at USC). You wouldn't necessarily be at a disadvantage, but do as much as possible. I still got accepted by only doing 2 of them. It mostly depends on your gpa, activities, etc., and which major your applying for.

The disadvantage would be trying to catch up while at USC, if you're admitted. It could add an extra semester or year to your graduation date. Taking the classes beforehand will save money, time since you actually followed their GE curriculum.

Disadvantage if not finished. I am transferring this fall and I only did two categories in the CC that I attended. I will be playing catch up and I have already been told that summer financial aid is hard to come by so... my advice would be, do try to knock out as many GEs as you can before you transfer.

Well that does make a lot of sense. If I need to take a greater course load then so be it, better safe than sorry. It'll be better in the long run too. I'm gonna apply to Marshall so I'll take whatever edge i can get. Thanks guys : )

Also, when I submit my transcripts should i submit whatever I have up until fall or should I wait until my winter grades come out? I want to submit my application a bit earlier but my winter grades won't come out until near the application deadline. I think I'm just getting paranoid >.>

Well the deadline isn't until February 1st. Whatever grades you have until then is fine. If the winter grades will help your GPA but are still coming before the deadline just get them rush delivered. Plus, the more classes you have the more accurately they can assess you for admission.
