Hey guys. I transfered to a school, but had no idea that my Intro to Bio I and II, as well as my Biostatistics and Calculus with Bio Application, would not transfer into a course that I could use. Instead, I got transfer credits in Bio for nonmajors and elective credits, which do not help me. If I change my major to some humanities major, would those classes count for me to apply to medical school? Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate your help.

bump..any suggestions?

Did you take those courses at an accredited US college? If so...just send along your transcript from your original school and they'll count them.

yes i did, they were at a 4 year college. who could i talk to to make absolutely sure thats the case?

bump please

one more time

The people in charge of counting them, obviously.

There's no required major to get into medical school..all you need are the classes required (chem, bio, writing, math). That said, you could switch to a humanities major if you wanted to. Do whichever major you're interested in.

i understand that there is no required major. however, the fact of the matter is that they did not accept my bio or math to an equivalent class at this school. I want to know if I will still be able to apply to medical school even though I didn't take bio or math there (and probably wont get a letter from the premed adviser there)

We said yes. You wanted confirmation. You asked who to call. We told you: The people in charge, obviously -- that is, the AAMC.

Yes. They will count. AMCAS will require transcripts from both universities.

k, sorry for being so annoying, it just really bothers me that they didn't accept my credits.

one last question...don't medical schools need a letter of recommendation from a pre-med adviser of some sort? if i were unable to get one because of credits not transferring, would it prevent me from applying to medical school?

Yes, that would be a significant problem. It would also make your advisor very ridiculous, and I highly doubt that would be the situation.

Cool, sorry for being such a pest. I very much appreciate your responses. Thank you guys.
