My son was dually enrolled in an accredited University during high school (not a community college and not AP, actually went to the University attended classes and received credit). He has quite a few credits including all the math courses for his game design major at RIT, the RIT material states they automatically determine transfer credit from transcripts. Does anyone know anything about this? The University he attended would be equivalent academic wise to RIT so I'm hoping they will honor some if not all of the credits?

I can’t speak about the math courses, but my d had 21 credits accepted as transfer credits from her dual credit cc. RIT accepted all of them. These courses were typical LA courses (Eng., Psych., Comp. Prog., Logic, Econ.,etc.) She pretty much knocked out all of the LA requirements except her concentration or minor. We worked with RIT admissions and Liberal Arts dept. to choose the last course so we could do that. We sent her cc transcript to the school last summer and they sent a degree planning sheet with the courses listed under the appropriate required areas. It has been a great benefit for her to have these credits. She is a first year student, but as of this semester, she reached sophomore status. One benefit from that was being able to drop the meal plan for the “all debit” dining plan.

You made my day! Just what I was hoping to hear. :)

They’re very generous with the dual enrollment. They accepted 25 out of 36 possible hours for my D. They did not accept an internship credit and some video production classes. All credits were from a Community College.
