Transfer CSU without AS-T degree

Hello.
I’m CCC student who wants to transfer CSU with computer science major.
However, I realize that my school doesn’t provide the AS-T degree in Computer Science.
I know that all the CSU schools that 1st priority the transfer student who have AS-T degree in computer science.
Now, I feel like I should give up everything.
I found out that Navy veteran who doesn’t have AS-T got rejected in SDSU even he had 4.0 GPA in computer science.
What should I do now? Also, is UC also require AS-T degree for transfer students?

Since only 2 semesters left, It’s impossible to get an AS-T degree in other schools. (Have to drive 1.5 hrs to go that school that provide AS-T degree for transfer)

Total GPA right now: 3.70

Use http://www.assist.org to determine what courses you should take for the CS major at your target UCs and CSUs.

Complete any needed-for-transfer general education requirements (preferably IGETC if you can, otherwise at least the CSU “golden four” courses and any other requirements needed by UC).

Be aware that CS is often a competitive major, so it can be more difficult to get admitted than overall campus stats may suggest.

SFSU is a non-impacted CSU where the CS major is not impacted, so it should be easy to transfer into if you pass all of the major preparation and general education courses.

I already finish all IGETC and GE courses.
I have a 3 or 4 major pre-req left in all CSU or UC computer science major.
Also, my golden four will be A, B, B, B.

I don’t think UCs need AS-T or AD-T, but CSU needs that for first priority so… I’m not sure what should I do.

You can get admitted to CSUs without the AS-T. Just be sure to include some of the less selective ones since CS is often a competitive major.

https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major can give you an idea of how your college GPA stands for UC admissions.

SDSU has grown quite competitive for non-local transfers but, my guess is that your Navy friend missed a pre-req ir twi

An AAT or AST should help but won’t guarantee you admission into competitive programs at competitive schools. . With your grades, I would TAG a UC you are interested in - Irvine, Davis or Santa Cruz perhaps… and apply to a bunch of CSUs. The tough thing about the popular CSUs is they must save a big chunk of their transfer seats for ;‘local’ applicants. At really popular places like SDSU and CPSLO, that makes it really hard to know where the threshold will be from year to year. It is best to apply broadly, perhaps 3 UCs and 5 CSUs - even with a 3.7. Long Beach, Chico, Sac and SF would be good - that way at least one is very likely to be open to you.

Thank you for giving advises to me about CSUs.
I actually targeting CSU Long Beach, San Jose, San Diego and San Francisco.
I currently live in the San Diego, unfortunately, I can’t get AS-T degrees in Computer science in my CC.
But I actually targeting CSU Long beach anyways. Thank you.

It seems like my GPA is in range with UCI and UCD. However, is this GPA also include the TAG students?
I’m actually eligible for TAG UCI computer science major, just waiting for the new TAG matrix for 2019.

yes, the averages in the tool include TAG applicants.

CSULB appears to have a very strong preference for local applicants, so its relatively high selectivity for non-local applicants may be an unpleasant surprise if you are not local.

SDSU has a local service area, but there is very little information about whether it has a local area preference, or how large it may be if it does have one. But admission to the CS major does not look especially difficult: http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/admissions/transfers/gpa.html

SJSU is highly selective for the CS major, and only a little less so for the similar software engineering major: http://www.sjsu.edu/admissions/impaction/

SFSU has neither campus impaction nor major impaction for the CS major, so all applications meeting baseline eligibility should be admitted: http://www.sfsu.edu/public_html/apply/impacted.html
