Transfer Curriculum Plan

Okay, an update. I've recently gone over my plans with a transfer counselor, and I know what all my major prereqs are through Assist.org. I'm a HS senior, and by the end of this semester, these are the college classes I will have already completed while still in High School:

English 101
Macro-Economics
Micro-Economics
Spanish 102
U.S. Government
U.S. History
Film 102

I'm following the IGETC pattern, so before my "freshman" year, Area 4 will be done, the American Institutions CSU requirement will be done, Area 6 foreign language will be done, as well as 2 major prereqs, 2 out of 3 of Area 3 (Arts and Humanities), 1 out of 3 for Area 1 (English and communication). I could finish my GE and all lower division prereqs in a year, but because I didn't take much math in High School, I'm gonna have to do a great deal of math sequencing in college. The highest math I've taken is Geometry, and I've forgotten most of it, so I must start with that in college. So here's my college plan for the next two years. Tell me what you guys think. I'll be in at least two ECs and working about 20 hours a week.

Fall 2008
Math 321 – Geometry
Spanish 103 (Intermediate)
Speech 106 – Argumentation & Debate

Spring 2009
Math 331 – Algebra II
Philosophy 114 – Critical Thinking
Physical Anthropology 101 + Anthro Lab

Summer 2009
Math 131 - College Algebra

Fall 2009
Math 135 – Applied Calculus
Astronomy 100
Financial Accounting 130

Spring 2010
Math 123 – Elementary Statistics
Managerial Accounting – 140
Business Law - 110

Is there geometry in community colleges? just asking. at our cc we only have algebra, the lowest one is pre-algebra, then elem, inter, then college. After that is like trig/precalc, calculus...

Yeah the local CC here has Geometry and even Arithmetic lol!

If you transfer to either a UC or CSU with at least 60 units, the admissions people won't look at your high school record. I recommended that you only take the math classes needed for your major since only one is needed for transfer. If you need to refresh your math skills, start with Algebra II, you'll never need geometry. I think its just a stupid high school requirement.

FYI: I'm currently attending a community college and am also using assist.org to guide my transfer plan to a UC. I never took geometry and only made it half way through Algebra II but I was able to place directly into College Algebra (using a calculator.) The higher level math classes include a review of the lower material needed to understand the concepts taught. My college algebra class began with a review of the Algebra II concepts related to College Algebra.
