I was wondering if anyone has experienced problems with deadlines for transfers? Most colleges seem to make them later, but if housing deposits, etc. have to be in for most students by 5/1, does it make it harder to get spots when transfering? If you have 3 schools you are looking at and they don't all get back to you at the same time, putting deposits down on more than can be expensive! I never thought about it before because freshman are all on the same page so to speak, but I wondered how it works for transfers. Thanks!

Depends on the school. You can get your housing deposit back too.

Just borrow money from a relative or use a credit card.

Thanks, I'll check on that, when I hear of parents "losing their deposits" in probably wasn't housing. I wasn't sure what one parent meant when she was talking of how expensive her son's transfer was. In reflecting on it, she said, the first time, they got a lot of free applications, not this time, so 3-4 schools added up, plus deposits, sending papers, grades, etc. It was worth it, but mentally, when you think "it's done", it takes more out of you to do it again.

I know my school's official notify date is 5/1, and you have to respond by 5/15 (postmarked). Thats for the $200 deposit, but honestly, I would send in the deposit to any school you might want to attend, because a few hundred bucks is worth it to be at the right school =)
