So, the website says that transfer apps start being read in Feb and that decisions start coming out in March. However, I recently saw it remarked that transfer apps aren't even looked at until freshmen are finished. Is this true? Why would the website explicitly state much earlier dates? I made sure to get my transfer app in early to take advantage of the early decisions.

Is there any kind of estimate about when to expect transfer decisions? I have already started to receive attractive acceptances/financial aid offers from other schools but UR is by far my first choice. The problem is that I risk losing these other options if it doesn't work out with UR.

It sounds silly to be upset about a 1 or 2 month difference but it means a lot when you have to respond to offers within a certain time frame.

Transfer review is happening right now, but not by our entire office. We have a “transfer team” that focuses on transfer review, and other counselors help to review files as we transition from our freshman class to transfer students.

If you have other offers that you have to respond to, call our office and ask to speak with one of our transfer counselors. If we know that you have other offers that you have to respond to AND that Rochester is your #1 choice, we may (though I cannot make any promises) be able to expedite the process.

I truly appreciate your patience and hope that we’ll be able to do something for you when you call.

I just called the other school and they said it was fine to wait to let them know. They asked me what schools I was waiting for which made me feel weird. I suppose a school doesn’t have feelings but I felt bad essentially telling the other school it was 2nd choice!

It’s good to hear that some progress is being made for transfer applicants. It is really nice to have someone ‘on the inside’ here. It really takes away so much stress. Although, I have to say I will be immensely relieved when this is all settled and I know where I’ll be next year!
