Transfer Decisions?

Anyone else waiting on a decision to transfer? Will we find out on the Banner Web this week also?

I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think that transfer decisions will be online this week. I think they need to know how many incoming first years are going to take a place before they know how many transfer slots they have to offer. This is just my speculation though, so I would advise calling or emailing the admissions office just to be sure.

Younger D was a transfer applicant last year. If I recall, she received her decision in early April. She had to put her deposit down on May 1, just like the Freshman applicants. Admissions told us that Smith sets aside a certain number of places for transfers in addition to the Freshman places.

I thought I had heard that we were getting notified at the end of May. Early April would be great!

Just called the admissions office. The admissions rep said if you applied by the Feb. 1 deadline, your admissions decision letter is being mailed March 29. OH MY! Nervous!

That sounds about right, then. I think if you apply to a later deadline (after Feb 1), then you get a later notification, which also makes sense to me. Good luck!

Since our letters are being mailed out March 29, anyone know why Smith isn’t posting the transfer admission decisions online?

Bump! Anyone know!?

Did they tell you they won’t be posting the decisions online at all or just that they won’t be posting them until the 29th?

Other than what the admissions office told you, I doubt any of us can shed light as to why the decisions aren’t posted/haven’t been posted yet. The admissions office decides how they want to run things, so I guess they’ve decided to do it this way.

They told me they don’t post transfer decisions online at all. I’m glad the letters are coming soon, I’m just confused as to why they’d decide not to put up those decisions online.

I just got a call from the admissions office, and I got in! I’m so excited!!!

Did they say they’re calling everyone?? That makes me nervous. ugh.

It says I missed a call from them at 11:00 am PST…I called back and they told me they would contact me. I AM FREAKING OUT!!! Would they call only to say that I’ve been rejected???

Cherna: I doubt they’d call if you were rejected. I haven’t gotten any calls at all and am freeeaking out.

Yeah. You’re probably right. I’d doubt they notify 300 prospective students via telephone only to give good news to 109 of them. I called them back and they told me they would call back later. Now the waiting begins.

Are you an in-state applicant?

/where in the alphabet is your last name!? Sorry for freaking out. Smith is my top choice and I’m pretty nervous.

Far from in-state. I’m in Seattle, Washington and I’m a cc applicant who’s on a gap year. My last name starts with the letter, “L”.

I really liked Smith and decided to apply, knowing it would be a reach. I got into Mount Holyoke last Thursday, and was really surprised by that.

Their admissions office is now closed for today, so I guess I’ll find out tomorrow…?

@yummycheese55, what’s your last name start with?

I got into MoHo, too; congrats! I’m sure you got into Smith if they called you, so (likely) congrats on that, too.

Thanks! If it’s alright to ask, where are you transferring from?

The number on my caller id was 413-584-2700 (the contact number), and it said something about room 203. Sorry, I can’t stop speculating.

And congratulations to you too on getting into Mount Holyoke! They didn’t offer me nearly enough aid, so they’re off the table. It nice to know I got in, though!
