transfer decisions?

So I might be a little confused about this... but did the RD get posted online? If they were that would be like 15 days early correct? Does anyone know if the transfer decisions are usually out earlier than expected??

I had the same question. I am thinking the decisions will be out around April 1st based on what time the RD came out but I could be wrong. I know that April 25th is the final day and they have been a couple weeks ahead this year on all the other deadlines.

I think someone said last year they were April 21. Just remember hearing that somewhere.

Keep in mind though that they sent out regular decisions last year on the 24, so they're well ahead of last years pace.

That is true, so sometime in early April would be a good estimate.

Hey skii3r44, what school are you transferring from and what are your stats?

If the transfer decisions come out 15 days ahead like the rd's did, I would guess the notification date would be the 10th of April.

I know you didn't ask for my stats, but I would like to see others as well, so I decided I would start by sharing mine.

Application history: Applying in Highschool: I was first deferred, then rejected, then I appealed the decision--- and won the right to be placed on the waiting list, then later rejected again; We had about 25 people get into UNC from my highschool

I think its a long shot for me... but I wont know until I try right? ;c)
what about you?

I think you have a good shot. They say a competitive gpa for a transfer student is a 3.3 according to the admissions officer I spoke with.
I'm trying to transfer out of Virginia Tech and will have sophomore standing. I applied last year out of high school and was deffered, waitlisted, and eventually denied as an In state student.
SAT- 1310, 700 math, 610 verbal
A 3.7 uw, 4.4 w high school gpa

I think I should get in, but you never know what will happen. Good luck with the transfer. Are you applying anywhere else in case this falls through?

NStarheel, I didn't see yours at first but I say you have a good shot of getting in too. Especially since you were that close to getting in. Good luck to both of you and if anyone else is trying to transfer please put your stats up so we have an idea where everyone falls.

Son has applied for transfer--junior standing. Presently at Wake, college gpa around 3.6, 45 hours at time of application (I guess 60 at end of semester). Freshman chemistry award, chemistry TA one semester--no other real ECs beyond some intramural sports. High school (which I am told doesn't count for much as a junior transfer) 4.5 weighted (don't know uw) SATs (gee it seems a long time ago) I think 1330.

Applying Soph. Transfer from a CC- first time applying to UNC

Lots of intramurals in college, started my own statistics club (baseball research), and write for the school newspaper.

I don't think I've ever put up a chances thread. Do you guys think I'm in?

I think that everyone who put their stats up has a good chance. You need to have a good core of classes and at least a 3.3 gpa.

I'm not sure if this is premature or not but yesterday my application was updated so I did a little research. I saw on another thread that people could look up their PID. I went on that site and typed in my SSN and birthdate, and wala I have a PID number. Interesting. I then went on the UNC directory and my name is on there but there is no information... like I said maybe this is premature but it seems odd that they would go through all that trouble if I wasn't really getting in. The website to check your pid is https://s4.its.unc.edu/SISMisc/pidwmp. Now if you don't have one I wouldn't say your not in because they just looked at mine yesterday. If anyone else has a PID, let me know because this is rather strange.

What's a PID? If your application was updated, does that mean someone read it?

I just checked and I do have one. You may want to see if people who got rejected/waitlisted from the freshman application pool have one.

I read that if your application has been updated that someone looked at it. I could be wrong but thats what people were saying on this board. What date was yours updated?

I have one too... but I dont think this is very accurate (even though I really hope it is!) we should ask a freshman... lol

well i just read the FAQ's and it says:
How do I get a PID?
All persons affiliated with the University as a student, faculty, staff, or affiliate will be assigned a PID upon entrance into the University community. For more detailed information on how, where, and when PIDs are assigned please go to the How To Get a PID page.

it says unpon entrance into the university community... so does that mean we're in?!?! i hope so... I think i'm jumping the gun and this post completely contradicts my last...

I really hope so!! I don't think they would make a PID for every applicant considering they are only used if you are accepted. I have a good feeling about it but i'm still going to wait until I get THE LETTER before I start fully rejoicing.

ok so i applied as a sophmore transfer from nyu and i too have a pid. and just found this on that site:

"Prospective students will have a PID created when a decision is made on an application or when data is sent to the University from the filing of a Federal Aid Form (OAR Outside Application/Resource cycle). The way in which students are notified of their PID depends on which admissions office they have applied with. Undergraduates will be notified of their PID when they are sent a letter notifying that they have been accepted.Graduate Schools will notify prospective students that their application has been received. In that notification they will be given their PID and told to use it to check the status of their application on line."

i still think its good news

i got a pid as well
