Someone should create a transfer group for UNC on facebook and we should all join...

to get your unc email adress you make your own onyen acct/e-mail and it's pretty simple. I think people who could make one before decisions were out were definately in, the admit office just didnt want to admit their little flaw ;-)

well i got denied admission to unc. my stats weren't great, i'm sure thats why

2.9 hs gpa
3.8 college gpa 15 hours
1130 sat

i applied for sopohmore transfer status..... do you guys think i'll be able to get in if i apply again next year and keep around a 3.8 colleged gpa with 45 hours when i apply, or do you think my hs gpa has me in a permenatly screwed spot?

I am certainly no voice of authority, but from what I have been told, applying as a junior transfer your hs record is much less important. It makes sense, right now they only had one semester of college to look at and even though yours was good--it is a short time period.

Give it another try and keep that great gpa!

Odum Village is pretty far removed from the main campus/classes. You'd be in for very long walks, or always taking the bus, I think. I'm not sure what the advantage (if any) of living there is-- except possibly bigger (more apartment- and less dorm-like).

Last year most, if not all transfer students were placed in either Odom or Rams Village. The juniors were housed in Rams and the sophomores in Odom. Granville usually has a transfer floor if you want or you can be mixed in with returning students. Granville looks more expensive as you have to buy their meal plan, but I don't think for housing alone it is. Granville never fills, so you can decide the day classes start to live there! You can get a double as a single, but that is pretty expensive. Several people ended up with doubles as singles when their roommate didn't show or roommate when abroad second semester. If you don't end up with a roommate for the above reasons, Granville doesn't charge you for a single. There is a chance they might find another roommate for you, but that rarely happens.

If you check with the housing office they should be able to tell you where transfer students will be housed this year.

I got accepted to UNC and will probably be going in the fall. I will be visiting next weekend 4/27-4/30...if anyone else is visiting that time or wants to talk about the school in general please im me: dvd2273.... I am so excited to go.....

alright so it's been a few days now since most people found out their decision and my important udates tab still says my application is under review. when i called the admissions lady on thursday she said i should be finding out within the next couple days. anyone in the same boat or have any take on what this means?

Hey UNCjtd20, dont worry about it... I have a friend who is going through the same thing... She called up and they told her that it was simply a mistake ( they thought they had made decisions on everyone, but later realized they had not made decisions on some applications)... I know it stinks that you have to wait longer, but hopefully you'll receive good news

I'm curious, how is everyone else handling deciding which college to go to. I'm not completely sure I am going to UNC although I'm leaning towards it.

Since the reply date is so soon May 14th, the other colleges decisions aren't even released that early.

I want to evaluate Financial Aid, Credit Evaluations and many other things before I make my decision but the early date has made it almost impossible.
