Transfer Dilemma (Rescinded Application)?

I was a couple of days ago conditionally accepted to Cal Poly Slo. On my planned courses sheet I did put Statistics and Calculus which would make me have over 60 units and everything would have been good. I couldn’t get any of the classes at my institution due to overcrowding. I have now started a course in Statistics from another institution online. When I sent my transcripts to Cal Poly they could se on my planned courses that I did not have any of the Math classes planned and my acceptance status says that I have to take the Entry Level Math test before registering for classes. Does this mean that I was accepted with their knowledge that I have not been taking the Math courses. They have not been informed about the statistics class from the other institution yet either. This opens up a new dilemma which is that I will have less than 60 units when I transfer. I will have about 58 when I finish the statistics course. I am really freaking out about this situation and I don’t really know what to do since the classes has to be completed by spring term, if it would be okay to finish a class during the summer I would have been fine but now I don’t really know what to do. I am an international transfer student if that makes any difference. What is about to happen ? Is my application going to be declined?

Thank you for your help.

Call the admissions office ASAP. Only they can give you guideance on your situation. Also, this is likely to be iin a gray area so building some personal relationships with admissions staff will be important too.

You definitely need to deal with this ASAP because transferring with less than 60 units will make you a lower division transfer, and will require you to provide all the high school transcript + SAT or ACT score.

Cal Poly could rescind you base on this alone. So call admissions.

I second Mariner. Call the admissions office ASAP. As for the ELM test that they are requiring you to take, no big deal. It’s only purpose is to use your score to place you in the proper level math class where they think you will successful, it has zero to do with admissions. So if you don’t want a “remedial” class, study up before the test. They have practice tests on-line @ the ELM site. Worked for me. Good luck!

Thank you for the responses guys. My questions is about the ELM test if they want me to take it because they not that I am not going to finish math prior to transfer ? Since I did put on the planned courses list that I would finish calculus and statistics I wonder if they will rescind it after recieving my final transcripts or did they accept me with full knowledge that I am not taking math since it shows on the transcript I sent in earlier ? So if my only issue is the 60 units I think I can squezee in something just that they require it to be finished by spring term. I will go there and talk to them tomorrow.
