<p>How difficult is this? I was accepted EA for the College of Engineering as undeclared engineering. How difficult is it to transfer to LSA in order to major in "Astronomy and Astrophysics?"</p>

<p>test101, transfering from the CoE to LSA is automatic, assuming you are a student in good standing (2.0 GPA). All you have to do is complete one full year at Michigan. Since first-year classes for CoE students are mainly taken in LSA anyway (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics etc…), you will not have to worry about taking unecessary classes.</p>
<p>The tricky part is if you don’t do well in your first year classes and want to transfer out of the CoE to an “easier” major. If you have less than a 2.0, you’re stuck until you get your GPA up. I was in the CoE, and this is was an issue for some people. Granted, this was 30 years ago, but I would have thought that policy would have changed by now. At orientation, the then-Dean told us that only half of the students would complete an engineering degree. I don’t know what the current statistics are. It really could “weed out” students who don’t do well…not just from the CoE, but from the university. Many 18-year-olds are far from figuring out what they want to do with their lives. So, study hard and keep up your GPA so you leave your options open!</p>
