Transfer Engineering Question

Hey guys, I'm applying to a couple UCs for material science engineering. Based on assist, I'll have all the general engineering prereqs done (all the math, physics, chem computer science, etc). All that's left are the things not offered here (statics, dynamics, thermo, etc).

What I'm wondering is if anyone, hopefully from experience, can elaborate on whether or not you can finish the rest of your lower division and upper division classes in 2 years at a quarter system school. I honestly think it is possible but really hard since I think I'd have to stack classes and end up with like 5 classes a quarter, but then I'd be worried about my grades and what not.

Thanks!

Yes it’s possible. It just depends on how much GE you’ve taken and how many more lower division classes you need. You would have a really tough schedule each quarter, but it’s possible. And you might need to take classes over summer too. I transferred to UCSB for ME and am stretching it out to 3 years to lighten the load a bit and to make time for research or an internship.

thanks for the input. is that third year all three quarters or just partial? what I’ve been considering is maybe 4 classes a quarter and summer sessions to finish in two years. I think I’d ruin my grades if I were doing 5 classes every quarter

I am a transfer student that completed my 2 year AS engineering science degree, so I have everything you listed as well as statics, economics, and gen eds. Every college I applied to said it would take me 3 years to graduate. This is partially because of prereqs and making up freshman classes such as digital logic.

I’m sure you can graduate in two years if you take a heavy load and summer classes.
