Hey all! I'm looking to transfer to UVA, and one of the questions you can choose to write about for their application is "What issue of local, national, or international significance concerns you? Why?"

I don't think I'd have a problem writing tackling some real-world (albeit hackneyed) issue like the economy, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" or what have you, but I think it'd be both a more interesting paper to write and read if I focused on something I'm more interested in. I was thinking something more lighthearted, maybe something about Batman! Mainly that there is a widespread misunderstanding of the character of Batman, and that should change or something like that.

Is that sort of thing frowned upon? I'm not really sure what to expect, so I'm torn about what path to go down in writing it. Thanks in advance for all your help!
