This is only a rough draft, I’m gonna read it and edit it until I hate it tonight. What should I add/omit? Opinions?

While attending a career and transfer fair at my two-year college this Fall, I only had one intention; to visit the Geneseo booth. After discovering that a Geneseo representative would be at my college, it was clear to me that I had to go. I had visited the campus before, and after getting a glimpse at the small tight-knit community of students, I had only confirmed my desires to gain admittance to Geneseo. In addition, after researching many different schools, my search always without failure boils down to Geneseo. It has the perfect combination of intriguing extracurricular activities, academic fraternities, and English courses that I am looking for. Not to mention that the transfer agreements between Jamestown Community College and Geneseo are incredibly compatible. Lastly, Geneseo offers pre-law advisement which will be advantageous and essential for me, as I plan to go to law school after my undergraduate work is complete.

When I graduated high school, I enlisted in the Navy for a 5-year active duty contract. However shortly after arriving at basic training, I was disqualified medically due to my vision. It was the lowest point of my life, but when I got relocated to the Separations Barracks, I didn't hesitate to pull out a notebook and begin strategizing what I would do with my life when I got back home. The first thing on that list was to get an education, and that's what I have been doing. I plan to continue my education at Geneseo in order to receive my bachelor's degree in English Literature. In short, after many calculations, I can only come to the conclusion that Geneseo is the next best step for me to achieve my academic and career goals.

It is clear to me that the students at Geneseo are goal-oriented, hardworking ambitious students. If it's one thing that I will bring with me to the Geneseo community, it's an eagerness to learn. I aim to thrive academically, and furthermore become involved on an extracurricular level. From remaining on the dean's list consecutively, to going to Boys' State and maintaining student government positions, I will bring with me a high level of involvement, both in and out of the classroom.
