Transfer Essay Topic

Is anyone else slightly beffudled by this transfer essay question?

"Describe your activities during periods of time (other than summer vacations) when you were not enrolled in college. Do you plan to spend the Spring term away from your current college or university? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, please describe, in chronological order, your activities or employment during these periods."

Yikes. There really aren't two discrete questions. If you took time off or plan to, then talk about your activities.

Right, I feel like I'm blatantly overlooking something. The only time I have been away from my college is during winter break, so that severely stunts my answer and since I'm applying for Spring Admission I'm hardly going to take the Spring term off. The other transfer question involves career plans and how our major relates (philosophy major anyone?). You would think that they would ask questions that would reflect more about the applicant's character; like some clich

The question does not apply to you, as even during breaks, you were enrolled in college. This is for applicants who take a year/semester off.

The question has to be answered though.

It is certainly a very poorly worded question. But I interpret it as wayward_trojan does: it does not apply to you.

If you must answer, I would answer "Not applicable; I have been enrolled fulltime in college without breaks other than term breaks and summer vacations."

I was wondering about this too and I also thought i would have to talk about winter break. perplexing.

It doesn't apply to you. It's poorly-worded. They just want to know if you took any semesters off and what you did during that time off from school.

I left it blank on my applications last year.

Yup. Leave it blank. Thats what I did last year too
